Sigma v Nikon

Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG   v   Nikon 80-200 f2.8 AF ED

which is best?

As a long term Nikon user I expect the Nikon to win - even though this is the original push/pull version of the 80-200mm f2.8 AF ED against a brand new Sigma. You see this old 80-200 2.8 AF ED is part of my family - it’s helped make a large chunk of my income for years and never once let me down. Now I’m looking at changing to Canon - but I’m not certain yet. So I bought a Sigma rather than a Canon. I’ve owned lots of Sigma lenses over the years but peace of mind usually comes with a Nikon or Canon label. So should I quit now and just go hug my Nikons or is the brand new Sigma an improvement on one of the best lenses I own?
