Epson Photo Printers

Epson are the biggest suppliers of inkjet photo printers and they can be split into two categories - those that use dye inks like the Epson Photo 1400 and those that use pigment ink like the Epson Stylus Pro 3800.  Epson claim 25 year life for dye ink prints on Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper and around 75 years for prints on Epson media from the pigment ink photo printers

Epson’s replacement for the much loved 1280 / 1290 / 1290S is an excellent printer if you want a smallish quantity of high quality photo prints. The downside is the cost and availability of ink cartridges for it.

The Epson Stylus Pro 3800, now replaced by the 3880 is about as big a printer you could fit on a desktop, but it’s main selling point for me is ink costs. If, like me, you produce a lot of prints, you’ll love the 80ml ink cartridges, just as much as the superb A2 output.
